BKR Awards $12,000 in Accounting Scholarships

The global association of accounting firms BKR International recently presented its annual scholarship awards to honor accounting students around the world for their exemplary academic achievements in the accounting profession.

The global association of accounting firms BKR International recently presented its annual scholarship awards to honor accounting students around the world for their exemplary academic achievements in the accounting profession.

This distinctive program, unique among global accounting associations, awards $3,000 per student toward the cost of obtaining a professional accounting credential in their country. Since its inception in 2012, the scholarship program has awarded more than $60,000 to 22 students in 12 countries.

Scholarship recipients are nominated by BKR member firms in each of three designated regions and are then approved by the Worldwide Board.  The 2016 awards were presented as follows:

–    BKR Asia/Pacific Winner: Cody Beckworth, nominated by AMD Chartered Accountants (Western Australia)
–    BKR Europe/Middle East/Africa Winner: Elisavet Georgiou, nominated by Euroglobal SEE Audit Limited (Lefkosia, Cyprus)
–    BKR Americas Winners: Jai Vankwani and Jessica Munn, both nominated by SF Partnership (Toronto, Canada)
 
While discussing the two award winners at the BKR Americas Regional Meeting held in Toronto, Gary Crystal, partner with SF Partnership in Toronto, said,  “The BKR Scholarship program gives us an opportunity to communicate our appreciation to our excellent interns and provide support for them to achieve their goal of becoming a CPA.
